90 Day Protocol

Observation

Signs your wife is pulling away

You can name what you are seeing. You cannot turn a checklist into a reunion.

You used to get the whole day. The meeting that went sideways. The thing her sister said. The small complaint about the grocery store that was really about feeling unseen.

Now you get weather. You get fine. You get a woman who looks at her phone the way she used to look at you when you walked in the door.

You tell yourself she is tired. She is tired. That is not the whole story.

I am not going to give you seven moves that save it forever. If a checklist could put a marriage back together, you would have found it already.

What you are seeing is information. Treat it like information. Not like a fire you can put out if you say the right sentence.

What it looks like

She stopped sharing her day. That is not busy. That is a woman who has moved the important parts of her life to a room you are not in. You will want to interrogate. Do not. If she offers something, listen. If she does not, do not pry the door. You cannot talk someone back into wanting to be known by you.

The bed went quiet. Men treat this like the problem. It is usually the last thing that changed, not the first. Demanding sex, or sulking about the lack of it, tells her the only part of her you are tracking is the part that serves you. If the marriage is still a marriage, the work is how you live in the house. If she has already left the house, this paragraph is not your job tonight.

She makes plans that do not include you. A weekend with friends. A class. A trip you hear about after the ticket is bought. You can read that as betrayal. You can also read it as a life she is building because the one with you felt like standing still. Forbidding it will not bring her back into the room. Criticizing the friends will not either. You are watching a person relocate her future. That is grim. It is also not a cue to become a hobby she is supposed to find impressive.

The criticism got louder. Or it died. Both are data. Loud means she is still spending energy on you, even if it comes out ugly. Silence is colder. When a woman stops telling you what bothers her, she has often stopped believing it will matter. Do not cheer for the quiet. Do not defend against the loud. If something she said is true, act on it because it is true, not because you are bargaining.

She mentions divorce like a thought experiment. It is not a thought experiment. You do not have to panic and you do not have to perform calm. You take it as a serious sentence. You do not make a speech. You do not promise a new personality by Friday.

Your gut has been wrong about plenty. It is not wrong about the temperature in your own house. That tightness when you put the key in the lock. The way you scan her face before you put the bag down. You do not need a theory. You need to stop lying to yourself that this is a busy month.

Then there is the sentence men wait for and still do not know what to do with. I love you, but I am not in love with you. You will want a closing argument. Do not start one. You cannot logic a person into desire.

If she has already left or filed

Stop hunting for earlier signs you missed. That hunt is how you spend the first week rewriting history instead of sleeping, eating, and not signing things. You are not in a warning-sign season. You are in a first-night season.

Put this page down. Read the First 24 Hours. Download the PDF if you need it on the phone without the site. Then get Separation Survival Guide. A checklist will not un-file a petition. A speech will not either.

What you are not doing

You are not becoming attractive again as a chase. Train if you train. Clean up the life you actually live in. The minute it becomes a show for her, she can smell the ticket you are trying to buy.

You are not running a campaign to be included. You are not managing what she thinks. You are not turning the house into a performance review.

If she is still in the other room

You can stop making it worse tonight. Say less. Do not demand a state of the union at 11 p.m. Do not drink and then draft the novel. Tell one man what you are seeing, not so he can recruit a rescue party, but so you are not alone with a story you keep editing.

If something in the marriage is yours to own, own it in private first. Write it down. Be specific. I disappeared into work. I went cold when she was angry. I treated her like a roommate I paid for. Then, if there is still a conversation to have, have it when you can say it in one clean paragraph, not a closing statement.

Some marriages come back from a cold season. Some do not. Her choice is hers. Your job is not to become a more magnetic version of the man she is leaving. Your job is to see the house you are actually standing in.

You wanted a map that said: do these seven things and you will not lose her. I do not have that map. Name what you see. Do not turn it into a campaign. If the split is already real, leave the warning signs and go do the first night correctly. This is observation. The save-it-forever script was a sales page.

Next step

You named the room you are in

Do not turn the list into a campaign. If she is still in the other room and you want the 90 days, that door is open. If the split is already on, take the field manual instead.
